1958 How it all began 2009
Around the 15th of April,1958, a group of Casa View citizens met at the new Harry Stone
Recreation Center. This group of
people, being interested in square dancing contacted
Mr. Hester, a teacher at Adamson High School. He agreed to try and
teach square dance
lessons. He was paid $12.50 per session. While these lessons were in session Mr. Mel
Davidson
was elected president. Club dues were set at $ .50 cents per couple per dance.
The name Stonesteppers was adopted relative to

Buddy and Betty Jones were the clubs first square dance callers, chosen early in 1959.
