1958  -   How it all began  -   2011

Around the 15th of April, 1958, a group of Casa View citizens met at the new Harry Stone Recreation Center.  This group of people, being interested in square dancing contacted Mr. Hester, a teacher at Adamson High School.  He agreed to try and teach square dance lessons. He was paid $12.50 per session. While these lessons were in session Mr. Mel  Davidson was elected president. Club dues were set at 50 cents per couple per dance. Buddy and Betty Jones were the club's first square dance callers, chosen early in 1959.

The name "Stonesteppers" was adopted relative to Harry Stone Recreation Center.  Stonesteppers were host for the 1st NORTEX Roundup and also the first New Year's Eve Dance sponsored by the NORTEX association in 1961. The Stonesteppers grew rapidly and in 1968 was the largest club in the NORTEX Association. John and Wanda Winters was chosen to be the club's first round dance cuers, with Rufus and Laura Rideout as helpers.  Jack and Ann von der Heide began cueing for us in late 1990 and have cued for us ever since ... for which we are so proud and happy.

During the 1977-78 term, Stonesteppers adopted the name Stone Steppers Square & Round Dance Club.

Stone Steppers was selected NORTEX Club of the for year for 1978-1979,1993-1994 and again in 2007-2008.
